New Roof and Siding on a Potosi Wisconsin Property

This was a full exterior overhaul - new roof and new siding on both the main home and the outbuilding on a rural property in Potosi, Wisconsin. When you're working on a setup like this, consistency matters. You can't do one structure and not the other. Everything needs to tie together, and that's exactly what we set out to do here.

For the roof, we went with Malarkey Vista shingles in Brilliant Black. Malarkey makes a solid product - good dimensional texture, strong warranty, and that deep black color reads really well against a dark exterior. On a complex roofline with multiple pitches and a wraparound layout, clean shingle lines make a big difference in how the finished product looks from a distance.

The siding is CertainTeed Restoration Classic in Tuxedo - a deep navy that works on both a traditional farmhouse and a large outbuilding without looking out of place on either. CertainTeed's Restoration Classic profile has a nice tight lap that mimics the look of real wood clapboard, but without the maintenance headaches. It holds color well and stands up to the kind of weather southwest Wisconsin throws at it season after season.

Getting both structures to match required deliberate planning. The outbuilding has a completely different footprint - it's longer, lower, and has a curved metal roof section on the older portion. We focused the siding and shingle work on the newer addition of that building so it would complement the main house. The result is a property that looks intentional from every angle, not pieced together over time.
